These delicious Blonde & Chocolate Brownies are made from scratch – no store bought mixes – and drizzled with salted caramel. Add some fun sprinkles to make them perfect for any holiday!
Ta da! Marbled Blonde & Chocolate Brownies with Salted Caramel! I made these epic brownies for dessert yesterday, and I was a little excited about it. 😀 Instead of waiting to share the recipe next week, I decided to go ahead and post it today.
I am rather picky about brownies. They have to be super fudgy and moist with the perfect amount of chewiness. 🙂 These homemade ones are some of my favorites
Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, I added some cute heart sprinkles. 🙂
So, whip up a batch for Valentine’s Day (or any day), and enjoy!
Marbled Blonde & Chocolate Brownies with Salted Caramel
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup unbleached, all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup Sucanat (or an additional cup packed brown sugar)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (or semi sweet)
- 3 Tablespoons salted caramel topping
- sprinkles (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 13×9 inch baking pan or spray with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, stir together flours, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, Sucanat, and eggs together. Add wet ingredients to dry and beat until well blended. Take 1/2 cup of batter and set aside. Press the rest of batter into prepared dish.
Place dark chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 15 second increments until chips are melted. Add to the 1/2 cup reserved batter and mix well. Drop evenly over batter in pan and gently press to spread. (Batter will be thick and spread roughly into two layers, with blonde batter on bottom and chocolate on top.) Drizzle with the salted caramel.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until edges are turning golden. Immediately sprinkle with sprinkles if desired. Brownies will be soft when you take them out of the oven, but will firm up. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
