Easy Spaghetti

This basic spaghetti recipe can be thrown together in less than 30 minutes and is easily customized to your preferences! 🙂

Good morning (or afternoon, or evening, depending on where you are)! 🙂  I hope that you all had a good Christmas and New Year’s and were able to enjoy a little rest and relaxation in the midst of all the chaos.  For the most part we had a busy, but good December.  We finished off the month by getting sick last week, and I’m fairly certain that I accompanied my flu symptoms with a brief round of strep throat.  Today I am FINALLY feeling a little better, and am looking forward to getting back to normal on all fronts.  I’m starting off by sharing this Easy Spaghetti recipe. 🙂

On Monday night, we rang in the New Year with some homemade popcorn and a movie since we were sick.  Yesterday I began to take down the Christmas tree, and now almost all the decorations are packed away.  My house always feels bigger after I take down the decor, which is kind of funny.

It’s a bit chilly outside today, with temperatures hovering just above 30 degrees.  That’s cold for this part of the country, and I am really hoping that my poor outdoor plants don’t freeze over.  They aren’t used to this kind of cold, but they are too big to cover and I’m a little nervous.  As much as I enjoy cold weather, I don’t want it to kill my beautiful, tropical plants. 😦

If I’m feeling up to it, I’ll be braving the cold later to get outside and do a few things.  For now, I am staying warm indoors with a nice, hot cup of tea.  *takes a sip*

Errr, make that a lukewarm cup of tea.  Yuck.  Hot tea is delicious.  Cool tea that has just a hint of warmth is disgusting.  *shudder*

Since I haven’t been feeling well, I will be sticking to a simple meal tonight for dinner.  I’m thinking about some of my comforting Homemade Mac and Cheese or this Easy Spaghetti!

EasySpaghetti-KintheKitchen

Spaghetti is a favorite of my husband’s, and he asks for it regularly.  (Actually, I think he likes anything with noodles!  He could probably live off of plain pasta with a little butter.) 🙂

Here’s to starting off 2018 with a plate of spaghetti! 😀

Easy Spaghetti

  • Servings: 8
  • Print

Ingredients

  • 8 oz whole wheat spaghetti noodles
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef OR lean ground turkey
  • 24 oz jar spaghetti sauce (pick your favorite)
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

Prepare noodles according to package directions.  Meanwhile, cook beef or turkey in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink.  Drain off grease.  Add sauce and seasonings to meat and stir briefly to combine.  Return to medium-low heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.  Remove from heat.

Serve meat/sauce over noodles.  Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
