A simple, classic recipe that only requires three ingredients, these Oreo Cookie Truffles are always a hit at parties!
Hello, everyone! How was your Christmas? I spent lots of time with family, decorated cookies, ate a bunch of delicious food, watched Christmas movies with my husband, and worked on a new puzzle that I got for Christmas. I’m grateful that we had such a restful holiday!
New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, so today I’m sharing one more quick and easy dessert idea that can be thrown together for any parties you’re attending. 🙂 You may be tired of cooking and baking by now, so you’ll be glad to know that these Oreo Cookie Truffles don’t require any of that! They are super simple to make. After this recipe, we’re back to our usual fare. 😉
Even though I love Thanksgiving and Christmas (especially Christmas), I always feel a sense of relief once they’re over simply because of all the increased traffic and commercialism and busyness. By the time New Year’s Eve rolls around, I’m done with parties and ready to rest. Unfortunately, New Year’s Eve has to be the night when everyone shoots off fireworks and keeps me awake all night, so I guess I can forget the sleep until the day after. Getting sick right after the holidays is often a yearly occurrence for me, and I’m starting early this year because I woke up with a sore throat and fever this morning! No New Year’s partying for me. 🙂 I’m done, folks.
I put away some of the Christmas decorations yesterday, but I couldn’t bring myself to take down the tree just yet. It looks so pretty standing there, so it will have to wait until after the New Year.
Despite being sick, I still have a list of things that I want to get done today. I never can seem to sit and rest even when I don’t feel well.
Anyway, allow me to share this quick recipe with you! Oreo Cookie Truffles are a popular classic. Everyone seems to make them a little differently, and every version I’ve tried has been delicious! The one below is my favorite though.
Cream cheese + Oreo cookies + chocolate = delicious!
Hey, that’s mine! Got to go; my husband is trying to steal my Oreo Cookie Truffle right out from under my nose.
Oreo Cookie Truffles
Ingredients
- 1 15 ounce package double stuffed Oreo sandwich cookies
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 16 ounces semi sweet chocolate
Directions
Line a large baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.
Place cookies in a sturdy freezer bag and seal. Crush into small pieces with a rolling pin or heavy spoon. Place cookie crumbs in a large bowl. Add cream cheese and mix until well blended (mixture will be thick and sticky). Using your hands or a small scoop, form dough into balls of about 1 inch in diameter. Place on wax paper lined baking sheet. Cover lightly with plastic wrap. Chill for 30 minutes or until firm.
Meanwhile, place chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 15 second increments, stirring frequently, just until chocolate is melted. Remove truffles from refrigerator. Dip each ball into melted chocolate using a toothpick or fork, and place on baking sheet. Return to fridge for 15 minutes or until chocolate is firm.
Serve! Store leftovers in refrigerator.
