This delicious white sauce pizza is topped with basil pesto, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, spinach, and olives, and has a whole wheat crust!
There’s nothing that says, “It’s the weekend!” like a good homemade pizza. I threw this recipe together on a whim yesterday evening, and it turned out to be one of the best pizzas I’ve ever made. (Seriously? How does that happen?) I couldn’t wait to share it!
I tend to migrate from one pizza crust recipe to another, because I have several versions that I like. However, this easy Whole Wheat Pizza Dough recipe from Two Peas and Their Pod is one of my favorites, and I chose to use it for this pizza.
I made things easy on myself by using a store-bought white pizza sauce (in the same aisle as the other pizza sauces and pre-made crusts). I genuinely enjoy making my own sauces and seasonings, but hey, I don’t always have time for that (and neither do you, I’m sure). 🙂
Ever since I discovered the deliciousness of basil pesto, I’ve wanted to use it on a pizza. So I added some pesto along with the white sauce, and topped it with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, spinach, and green olives. I know green olives can be a polarizing food, so if you absolutely hate them you can leave them out. My husband despises green olives, so I topped his half of the pizza with a few pepperonis instead.
The owl approves. This pizza is delicious.
