Is it smoothie time already? I find it hard to believe that summer is almost here. It feels like I just put away our Christmas tree, and now it’s hot and muggy outside. Everyone is talking about swimming, vacations, cookouts, and summery foods like smoothies, salads, and popsicles.
I’m still getting used to Florida, where summer begins in March and ends in October. Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but it’s pretty close to reality.
To be honest, when it’s hot for that many months out of the year, my enthusiasm for all things summer is slightly lessened. I see other food bloggers posting their lovely smoothies and salads and summery dessert recipes and I’m over here eating soup and pumpkin muffins and wishing for a real winter for a change. 😉 Ha.
Despite the continuous heat, it’s a little hard not to catch some of the excitement. So, today I am posting one of our favorite smoothie recipes.
Typically, we have smoothies every Sunday evening. It’s the one evening of the week where I just don’t want to cook, and smoothies keep things simple. This week I changed it up a bit. If you read my blog post from yesterday, you’ll know that I haven’t been feeling well the past few days. When I’m sick I crave fruit, so smoothies it was for dinner last night!
These Mango Banana Smoothies are simple to make and delicious. I made them more filling by adding Greek yogurt.
So put on your sunglasses, kick back on a beach (or an imaginary beach) and enjoy!
Mango Banana Smoothie
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas, sliced or broken into chunks (I like to use frozen bananas)
- 1 mango, peeled and cut into cubes
- 2/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 3 Tablespoons honey
- 2 to 3 cups ice cubes (to desired thickness)
Directions
Combine all ingredients in blender and blend on high speed until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
