Nutter Butter Truffles – crushed cookies are combined with cream cheese, formed into balls, and dipped into melted semi-sweet chocolate to make a tasty dessert.
In general, I’m not much of a packaged cookie person. I very rarely buy them and would prefer homemade any day.
However, every once in awhile I like to throw together a batch of Oreo or Nutter Butter truffles. They’re delicious and are always a hit at potlucks or family gatherings. Plus, it looks like you worked really hard to make them when it was actually super easy.
All you need are 3 ingredients: cream cheese, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and Nutter Butter cookies.
Nutter Butter Chocolate Truffles
- 1 16 oz. package Nutter Butter sandwich cookies
- 1 8 oz. pkg cream cheese, softened
- 2 12 oz. pkgs semi sweet chocolate chips
Crush the cookies until crumbly. You can do this in a high quality food processor OR do what I do and place them in a large plastic zip-top bag and beat on them with a spoon. Combine softened cream cheese and crushed cookies in a large bowl and stir until they form a crumbly, thick dough. Form mixture into 1-inch balls and place on cookie sheets covered with wax paper. Place in refrigerator for about 30 minutes or freezer for about 15 minutes.
Pour chocolate chips into microwave safe bowl and microwave in 15-second bursts just until chocolate is melted (you don’t want to scorch it). Using a fork, dip balls into melted chocolate and return to cookie sheets. Place in fridge for about an hour or until chocolate is firm and serve. Store in fridge.
